Dragon Ball Devolution
Fan-made DBZ fighter by Txori with ki charging, transformations and beam clashes, across story, tournament and survival modes.
Dragon Ball Devolution is a long-running fan fighting game by Txori, inspired by the Game Boy title Goku Gekitouden. It began on a graphing calculator, moved to Flash in 2004 as Dragon Ball Z Tribute, was renamed Devolution in 2011, then simply Dragon Ball Devolution in 2019 as it outgrew the Z material.
Fights happen on a 2D plane with a distance meter rather than a normal fighting-game floor, so you flick between melee exchanges and long-range ki duels. Ki is a shared resource for blasts and transformations, which is the tension the whole game runs on: dump it on a beam and you cannot transform when it matters. Story, tournament, survival and training modes are included.
Controls
Arrows to move and dash, X to attack and charge blasts, C to guard and build ki
Tips
- Ki pays for both blasts and transformations, so do not empty the bar on a beam you are unlikely to land.
- Double-tap a direction to dash through an incoming attack. It beats blocking against guard pressure.
- Blast battles are a losing trade unless you are already powered up, so transform before you commit to one.
