Cookie Clicker
Click a giant cookie, buy grandmas and factories to bake for you, and watch the numbers run off into the genuinely absurd.
Cookie Clicker is Orteil's 2013 incremental game and the one most other idle games are copying. It opens with a single giant cookie and nothing else. Clicking it makes one cookie. Cookies buy cursors, then grandmas, farms, mines and factories, each producing cookies per second on its own.
What keeps it going past the joke is the depth underneath. Golden cookies appear at random for short, enormous multipliers, upgrades interact in ways worth reading carefully, and prestiging resets your bakery for permanent heavenly chips. The grandmas also, at a certain point, stop being friendly. It runs in a tab forever and is best treated as something you check on, not play.
Controls
Mouse only: click the cookie, then click buildings and upgrades in the right panel
Tips
- Golden cookies are the whole economy. Click every one, and stack a Frenzy with a click frenzy when you can.
- Buy whichever building gives the most cookies per second per cookie spent, not the newest one unlocked.
- Do not ascend at the first prestige level you can afford. Waiting a little longer is worth far more chips.
