Retro Emulator
RetroArch compiled into a browser tab - pick a console core, load a ROM from your own disk, and play it locally.
Retro Emulator is webretro, an open-source project that compiles libretro emulator cores to WebAssembly and wraps them in a browser UI. You choose a core - NES, SNES, Mega Drive, Game Boy Advance, N64, PlayStation and a long list of others - or let it auto-detect, then hand it a ROM file from your own computer.
No games are bundled. It is the emulator only, so what you can play is whatever you own and load yourself. Save states, controller support, shaders and the usual RetroArch options all sit behind the menu, and because everything runs locally in the tab, nothing you load leaves your machine. Heavier systems like N64 lean hard on your own hardware.
Controls
Keyboard maps to the console pad by default; gamepads work, and F1 opens the menu
Tips
- Pick the exact core for your system rather than AutoDetect - detection loads the ROM first and is slower.
- Plug a USB controller in before you load a game; it gets detected and mapped at start-up.
- Use save states freely but export them - they live in the browser and a cleared cache wipes them.
