Ultimate Flash Sonic
The 2004 fan-made Flash Sonic built from Sonic Advance sprites: two zones, Eggman bosses, four characters.
A Sonic fan game from 2004 that recreates the Game Boy Advance titles almost exactly, sprites and all. It runs on Sonic Advance 2's feel, spin dash and all, with rings as health that scatter when you're hit, across two zones lifted from that game: Leaf Forest and Ice Paradise, each with two acts and an Eggman fight at the end.
You pick from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Cream, who all handle differently, and passwords unlock Amy and then Shadow once you've finished with her. Clearing the game with each character switches on a cheat, from Tails tagging along behind you to running behind the background. It's short, but for years it was the closest a browser got to a real Sonic game.
Controls
Arrow keys to run, Space to jump, hold Down and tap Space to spin dash.
Tips
- Rings are your health bar; one is enough to survive a hit, and you can grab some back as they scatter.
- Spin dash out of slopes and loops, since walking pace won't carry you through the Ice Paradise gaps.
- Knuckles glides and climbs walls, so use him on stages where a missed jump means falling out.
