Two players, two goals, one ball and a header mechanic that decides almost every match.
1 on 1 Soccer is one of the oldest two-player browser football games and it is still played because the controls are perfect for the format: move, jump, and that is it. Kicking happens automatically on contact, so the entire skill is positioning your body where the ball is going.
Headers are the heart of it. A well-timed jump sends the ball over the opponent entirely, and because both goals are close together, one good header is frequently a goal. Matches last a couple of minutes and the rematch is automatic, which is exactly right.
Controls
Player one: WASD. Player two: arrow keys
Tips
- Jump into the ball rather than waiting for it. A header clears your opponent completely.
- Stay goal-side. The pitch is short and one mistimed advance is a conceded goal.
- Let a high ball bounce once. Hitting it on the drop is far more predictable than volleying.
