Bad Ice-Cream
Collect the fruit in a maze you build yourself out of ice, while things that want to eat you patrol it.
Nitrome released Bad Ice-Cream in 2010 and it is one of the best cooperative puzzle games on the web. You play an ice cream cone collecting fruit from a grid, and your one ability is to create and destroy walls of ice in the direction you are facing.
That turns every level into a maze you are authoring in real time. Ice can wall off a pursuer, open a shortcut, or trap you in a dead end you built yourself. With two players it becomes genuinely cooperative, since one can block while the other collects, and the enemy types each need a different kind of wall to handle.
Controls
Arrow keys for player one, WASD for player two. Direction key to make and break ice
Tips
- Build walls to funnel enemies rather than to hide. A pursuer stuck in a corridor you made is out of the level.
- Clear a whole fruit type before starting another. The level only ends when every fruit is gone.
- Watch for walling yourself in. The ice you created is as solid for you as it is for everything else.
