Minecraft 1.5.2
Eaglercraft's browser port of Minecraft 1.5.2, the lighter of the two versions here. Same survival loop, smaller download, kinder to old hardware.
This is the 1.5.2 client running entirely in the browser through Eaglercraft, a reimplementation that compiles the Java client to JavaScript. Everything the version had is here: the survival loop of punching wood, crafting tools, mining down and building something before dark, plus creative mode if you would rather skip the survival part.
1.5.2 predates a lot of what later Minecraft added, which is exactly why it is worth having. It is noticeably lighter than the 1.8 build, loads faster, and holds a playable frame rate on machines where the newer version chugs. Worlds save into your browser's storage, so they persist between sessions but live on that one device.
Controls
WASD to move, mouse to look, left click to break, right click to place, E for inventory
Tips
- Pick this over the 1.8 build on an older Chromebook. It is the same loop with a fraction of the load.
- Worlds are stored in your browser, not on a server. Clearing site data wipes them, so export anything you care about.
- Let the world finish generating before digging. Chunks load slower in the browser, and a half-loaded cave is how you fall into one.
