Fluid Simulation
A real-time WebGL fluid simulation you push around with the mouse. There is no goal; dragging colour through the fluid is the entire thing.
This is a GPU-driven fluid simulation running in the browser. Dragging the cursor injects velocity and dye into the field, and the solver takes it from there, producing the swirls, vortices and dissolving plumes that real fluid does. Everything happens per frame on the graphics card, which is why it stays smooth at full screen.
There is no score and nothing to complete. It is a toy, and a good one to know about when you want something running that is pleasant to look at and needs no explanation. Most builds expose a settings panel with resolution, dissipation and bloom controls, which is worth turning down if the frame rate drops.
Controls
Click and drag to push the fluid; some builds open a settings panel
Tips
- Drop the simulation resolution in the settings panel first if it stutters. It costs almost nothing visually and helps a weak GPU a lot.
- Short sharp drags make vortices; long slow ones make sheets. The difference is velocity, not distance.
- Turning bloom off is the single biggest performance win on integrated graphics like a school Chromebook.
