Superhot

Time only advances while you move, so every firefight becomes a slow-motion puzzle: step, read the bullets, step again, then shoot.

The original browser prototype, made for a seven-day game jam in 2013 and later expanded into the commercial release. Faceless red enemies come at you in a white geometric space. Stand still and the world nearly stops; take a step and bullets crawl forward. That one rule turns a shooter into something closer to chess.

You start with little or nothing and take weapons off whoever you drop, and guns hold very few rounds, so each room is a sequence of small decisions about which threat to answer and which to sidestep. Enemies shatter like glass when hit. Runs are short and heavily replayed, because one misread bullet ends the attempt.

Controls

WASD to move, mouse to aim and fire; time only moves when you do.
