The Impossible Game
An orange square, one jump button, and a wall of spikes timed to the music. It predates Geometry Dash and is meaner.
The Impossible Game came out in 2009 and established the entire one-button rhythm-platformer genre that Geometry Dash later took mainstream. A square moves forward at constant speed, you press one button to jump, and a single mistake sends you back to the start.
It is harder than its descendants because it is less forgiving about everything. There are no practice modes and no checkpoints worth the name, the levels are long, and the jumps are timed to the beat precisely enough that playing with the sound off is substantially harder. The progress percentage is the only mercy on offer.

Tips
- Play with sound on. The jumps land on the beat and the music is more reliable than your eyes.
- Memorise in sections. Nobody clears this on reaction; it is a pattern-learning exercise.
- Keep the rhythm during the gaps. Breaking tempo between obstacles is how most attempts die.
