Bloons Tower Defense 5
Dual upgrade paths with activated abilities, Special Agents, Specialty Buildings, regrow bloons and the ZOMG close out Flash Bloons.
BTD5 landed in 2011 and closed out the Flash era of the series. Every tower now has two upgrade paths four tiers deep, with a crosspathing rule: take a third upgrade on one path and the other is capped at tier two forever. Top-tier upgrades come with activated abilities you click manually, which is a genuine change in how a round is played.
Around that sit Special Agents bought with Monkey Money rather than in-round cash, Specialty Buildings that buff one tower type at the cost of another, and the Monkey Lab. The Ninja Monkey, Heli Pilot, Monkey Engineer and Bloonchipper join the roster. Camo becomes a property that can stack with the new regrow trait, and the ZOMG sits above the BFB.
Controls
Mouse to build and upgrade; click a tier-4 tower's icon to fire its ability
Tips
- Crosspathing is one-way. Once you take a third upgrade on a path, the other path is stuck at tier two.
- Camo and regrow stack on the same bloon, so keep camo detection covering the last stretch of track.
- Abilities do not fire themselves. A saved ability is usually what carries you through a ZOMG round.
