Checkers
Straight draughts against the computer: jump the opposing pieces, reach the back rank, king up and clean the board.
A plain implementation of checkers with no theme and no distractions, which is exactly what it needs to be. Pieces move diagonally forward, captures are made by jumping, multiple jumps chain in a single turn, and a piece that reaches the far rank becomes a king that can move backward.
The game looks simple and is not. Checkers is about tempo and forcing moves: because captures are mandatory in most rulesets, a piece you offer up can drag your opponent into a sequence they did not want. Good play means counting those chains several moves deep before touching anything.

Tips
- Hold your back row as long as you can. The moment it breaks up, the opponent has a clear road to a king.
- Offering a piece is often correct. A forced capture lets you take two back on the reply.
- Push pieces up in connected pairs. A lone advanced piece is just a free jump for the other side.
