Offline Dino

Chrome's no-internet T-Rex runner: jump cacti, duck pterodactyls and watch the desert speed up until you finally clip something.

The Offline Dino - officially the Chrome Dino or T-Rex Runner - is the pixel dinosaur Google built into its browser's no-connection error page in 2014. It is a one-button endless runner: the dinosaur runs right at a steadily rising speed while cacti and, a few hundred points in, pterodactyls come at you. Touch anything and the run ends.

There's no level structure and no upgrades, just a score counter and a locally stored best. The desert flips to a night palette at intervals, which makes silhouettes harder to read, and a few thousand points in the scroll speed leaves barely enough time to react. Short runs, instant restarts, and a difficulty curve made entirely of raw speed.
