Getaway Shootout
A two-player race where you cannot walk. You hop left, hop right, and fight over weapons while lurching toward the extraction point.
Getaway Shootout is built on a deliberately terrible control scheme. You have one key to lurch left, one to lurch right and one to use whatever you picked up, and that is it. Movement is a series of hops that carry momentum badly, so crossing a gap is an achievement and doing it while someone shoots at you is most of the game.
Two players share a keyboard and race to the getaway vehicle at the end of each stage. Weapons spawn along the route and are as likely to launch you off the level as help you. It is chaotic by design and it is far better with a second person than against the computer.
Controls
Player 1: W and E to hop, R to use. Player 2: I and O to hop, P to use
Tips
- Alternate the two hop keys in a rhythm rather than mashing. That is how you build the momentum to clear long gaps.
- Weapons are as dangerous to you as to the other player. Firing mid-hop usually ends with you in the pit.
- Being behind is recoverable. The last stretch of most stages has a hazard that punishes whoever arrives first.
