Mario Kart Flash
A top-down Flash tribute to Mario Kart with item boxes, drifting and tracks that remember where you cut the corner.
A fan-built top-down racer that takes the Super Mario Kart formula back to its overhead roots. You pick a driver, pick a cup and race a handful of laps against a field of computer karts, collecting item boxes along the way.
The handling is deliberately slippery, so corners want an early turn and a release rather than a held key, and leaving the track surface costs real speed. Items do what you expect: shells track forward, bananas sit where you drop them, and the field is rubber-banded enough that a lead is never comfortable. It is rough around the edges and perfectly playable.
Controls
Arrow keys to steer and accelerate. Space or Ctrl to use an item
Tips
- Turn in early and release. Holding the key through a whole corner scrubs more speed than it saves.
- Drop bananas directly behind you on a narrow section. The computer drivers do not avoid them well.
- Staying on the track surface matters more than taking the shortest line, since grass and sand cut your speed hard.
