Vex 4

Nine acts, nine hard modes you have to earn, and a level editor whose stages get traded around as pasted codes.

The fourth Vex keeps the run-jump-slide platforming and rearranges everything around it. Nine acts each end in a Vexation stage, and a Challenge Room keeps expanding the more of it you clear. Hard mode isn't simply handed over for finishing an act either; you unlock each one by completing the objectives listed at the bottom of the screen.

The editor is why people stayed: eight save slots, a 200-object cap, and levels shared as pasted codes rather than uploads, so custom stages circulated through chat and forum posts. A ghost recorder captures your run so you can see where a time actually went, and standing still lets you pan the camera with the mouse to scout a jump before taking it.

Controls

Arrows or WASD to move and slide; Down enters an act, mouse pans the camera.
